We raise money by selling websites. A proportion of every pound that Gabriel Media earns goes directly into the charity. We give at least 10% of all our profits to the Trust.
Our current project is raising money to support education in Zimbabwe. We are supporting the work of Computers for Charities who are currently funding an aid project in Zimbabwe.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, give him a fishing rod and you feed him for life. This truism is 100% applicable to education. Sadly the world is not a balanced playing field, especially for those living in developing countries across the world. Education is either not fully accessible or is limited due to levels of poverty, inflation, war and turmoil.
Why then support Information and communication technology (ICT) development when there are more pressing needs. Education represents a necessary investment for the betterment and development of individuals, communities and nations by incorporating ICT as an essential global requirement in the 21st Century.
Through crucial financial support by the Gabriel Education Trust, “African schools on Line” an established educational program developed by Computers for Charities is providing new possibilities and real development opportunities for schools, children and communities across strife torn Zimbabwe.
Sponsoring this initial shipment of 200 computer systems and resources provides a new starting place and opportunities for 20 schools struggling to meet the educational needs of over 20,000 children in impoverished townships and rural areas. The provision of resources alone will not provide a solution, much more is needed to enable development and sustainability and makes “African schools on line” different to other school programs by providing skills training for teachers and aiding schools to build bridges with local communities through curriculum development and adult education.
Zimbabwe enabled the birth of “African schools on Line” which has provided ICT access to 250,000 children worldwide. Thanks to support from the Gabriel Education Trust.
